Abstract

|
The purpose of this study is to develop programs to improve the parent counseling abilities of play therapists, to increase the effects of parent counseling and to better prove its effect. The parent-counseling ability strengthening program reflects the following factors. First, the ability to tap into insight and self-comprehension on the part of the play therapist. Second, the ability to understand the client through case conceptualization and third, to build a cooperative therapeutic relationship with both the child and parent. First, the program was effective in improving the levels of insight and self-comprehension of the play therapists. Secondly, it was effective in improving the ability of the play therapist to understand their client through case conceptualization. Thirdly, it was effective in enhancing the therapeutic cooperative relationship with parents. The significance of this study is, first, that this drew out the factors most relevant to improving parent counseling abilities. Second, it proved to be an effective educational method. Third, the program was developed and has proven its effectiveness for the first time on a national level.
